9140.02 - SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENTS' ADVISORY COMMITTEE

A Special Education Parents' Advisory Committee shall be established to advise the Intermediate Board of Education. The committee cannot usurp any of the prerogatives of the legally constituted boards of education or of their administrative staffs. There is no authority to delegate or to legislate. The Special Education Parents' Advisory Committee shall be constituted of at least one (1) parent of a disabled person from each constituent school district nominated by their respective boards of education. The Intermediate Board shall make every attempt to assure that all types of disabilities are represented on the Special Education Advisory Committee. To the extent possible, membership terms shall be appointed for staggered three-year terms. The assistant superintendents/directors of departments shall serve as an ex officio member of advisory committees and may serve as the secretary.
