7510 - USE OF DISTRICT FACILITIES
The Board of Education believes that the facilities of this District should be made available for community purposes, provided that such use does not infringe on the original and necessary purpose of the property or interfere with the educational program of the schools and is harmonious with the purposes of this District.
The Board will permit the use of District facilities when such permission has been requested in writing by a responsible organization or a group of citizens and has been approved by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance, the Principal or Program Supervisor.
Approval may be given for the following:
| A. | uses directly related to the District's programs and the operations of the District | ||
| B. | meetings of employee associations | ||
| C. | uses for voter registration and elections | ||
| D. | uses and groups indirectly related to the District | ||
| E. | departments or agencies of the municipal government | ||
| F. | other governmental agencies | ||
| G. | community organizations or groups in the following order of priority: |
| 1. | educational | |||
| 2. | charitable | |||
| 3. | civic | |||
| 4. | social | |||
| 5. | religious | |||
| 6. | recreational |
| H. | commercial or profit-making organizations |
Office space in the District's buildings shall be for the operation of the Calhoun Intermediate School District programs and services. In addition, office space may be furnished to Michigan public school districts, community college districts, and state-supported colleges and universities, and other programs with direct educational benefit to the community, providing the Board contracts with any of the above said public school corporations for services to its local constituent school districts.
The use of District facilities shall not be granted for:
| A. | private social functions; | ||
| B. | any purpose which is prohibited by law. |
The Superintendent shall develop administrative guidelines for the granting of permission to use District facilities including a schedule of fees. Such guidelines are to include the following:
| A. | Each user may be required to present evidence of the purchase of organizational liability insurance to the limit prescribed by District rules. | ||
| B. | Use of District equipment in conjunction with the use of District facilities must be requested specifically in writing, and may be granted by the procedure by which permission to use facilities is granted. The users of District equipment must accept liability for any damage or loss to such equipment that occurs while it is in their use. Where rules so specify, no item of equipment may be used except by a qualified operator. | ||
| C. | Users shall be liable financially for damage to the facilities and for proper chaperonage. |
No liability shall attach to this District, any employee, officer, or member of this District specifically as a consequence of permitting access to these facilities.
