5830 - STUDENT FUND RAISING

Fund raising projects in which members of groups sell merchandise, provide services or in other ways solicit money for school activities may be sponsored by the student council or other school-sanctioned organizations, but should be kept to a minimum. Any such plan shall have a clearly-defined purpose and have the prior approval of the principal who will submit it to the superintendent for information.

Profits shall be used to enhance school programs.

All participation shall be voluntary, with written parental consent for children in elementary schools. Students in grades K-4 shall not be allowed to participate in door-to-door sales. Tickets for school events, class or school organization projects may be sold by students who are enrolled in that school or members of the particular class or organization sponsoring the event. Tickets for high school activities shall not be sold by elementary students.
