1220.01 - CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
The chief administrative officer of the School bears the title of Superintendent of Schools and reports to the Board of Education. The Superintendent will be generally responsible to the Board for proper and efficient conduct in operation of all phases of activity in the School System. The execution and implementation of all decisions made by the Board concerning the internal operation of the system are delegated to the Superintendent.
The Superintendent's employment shall be secured by a contract as provided by law, which shall specify the length of the contract, salary, fringe benefits, the commitment of the Superintendent to faithfully administer the School System according to State and Federal laws and regulations and Board policies and any other provisions agreed upon between the Board and the Superintendent.
It shall be the policy of the Board to exclude the Superintendent from attaining tenure in position or in any other administrative position. Such provision shall be made a part of the contract.
If at any time, in the opinion of the majority of the Board, the services of the Superintendent are unsatisfactory, s/he shall be notified in writing and given an opportunity to correct the conditions. If the conditions are not corrected, s/he shall be given notice in writing at least ninety (90) days before the expiration of his/her contract or according to any other provisions for renewal included as a part of the superintendent's individual contract. Failure to meet the ninety (90) day requirement shall automatically renew the superintendent's contract for an additional one (1) year period.
