4100 - CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL
Classified personnel are herein defined as custodians, maintenance workers, clerical workers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, Educational Student Monitor Aides, Educational Aides, and all other employees who are not required to hold a teaching or administrative certificate from the State Department of Education to perform their duties.
Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent and Treasurer, the Treasurer's office shall verify all new employees and substitutes right to work in the United States according to the Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Classified personnel are employed under one (1) of the following categories:
| A. | Regular classified employees are those who are hired under contract to work thirty (30) hours or more per week for at least the duration of the school year regardless of the number of days remaining in the school year. | ||
| B. | Part-time classified employees are those who are hired under contract to work less than thirty (30) hours per week for at least the duration of the school year regardless of the number of days remaining in the school year. | ||
| C. | Temporary classified employees are those who are hired to work for a limited time not to exceed fifty-nine (59) days during one (1) fiscal year. | ||
| D. | Substitute classified employees are those who are hired on an "on-call" basis to substitute for absent employees. |
All such employees except those hired in categories "C" and "D" above, must become members of the State School Employees Retirement System. If employees hired under categories "C" and "D" work more than fifty-nine (59) days during one (1) fiscal year, they also must become members of the State School Employees Retirement System. Contributions to the retirement fund are fixed by law and will be deducted by the Treasurer and forwarded to the School Employees Retirement System.
