8210 - PREPARING SCHOOL CALENDAR
The assistant superintendent shall be responsible for preparing and proposing to the Board of Education the District's school calendar. S/He will collect input from the various employee and community groups. The following guidelines will be used in developing the calendar, but are subject to change when deemed necessary.
| A. | Opening of School Year | |
| School shall normally open the week before Labor Day. All professional staff will report one and one-half (1-1/2) days prior to school opening and will be expected to participate in scheduled professional development activities and preparation of the classrooms. | ||
| B. | Winter Vacation | |
| Winter vacation will always include December 24th thru and including January 1st. Additional vacation days before December 24th and after January 1st may be added due to calendar and program considerations. | ||
| C. | Spring Break | |
| The annual spring-time recess will begin on Thursday before Good Friday. School will begin on the following Monday. | ||
| D. | Holidays |
All District schools and offices shall be closed on the following holidays:
Labor Day
Columbus Day
Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following
Christmas Day
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Day
President's Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
