8310.01 - RECORD RETENTION OF ELECTRONIC MAIL

It is the policy of the Avon Community School Corporation to follow the retention schedule set forth by a project sponsored by the Clay Community School Corporation in 1991 that resulted in a retention schedule covering basic school records. For any school record not cited in the "Clay Standards" the Hendricks County Public Records Commission has authority to set those retention schedules.

In accordance with the decision adopted on September 6, 2007 where the Hendricks County Commission on Public Records directed that each county agency may develop its own e-mail retention policy, the following is the e-mail retention policy of the Avon Community School Corporation:

 

"All e-mail created, sent, or received from the Avon Community School Corporation of little or no historical value may be deleted when no longer useful. If electronic correspondence has significance it should be maintained by the end-user as appropriate."
