5112 - ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
No child shall be initially enrolled in kindergarten if the child has not reached the age of five (5) on or before August 1st. See appeal process for Early Entrance to Kindergarten in Administrative Guidelines 5112.
No child shall be initially enrolled in grade one unless the child has:
| A. | reached the age of six (6) years on or before August 1st; OR | ||
| B. | successfully completed a full year of kindergarten in a kindergarten program accredited by the state where the kindergarten program was located. |
A birth certificate and completed health and immunization records shall be presented to the principal or his/her designee at the time of initial enrollment.
A child coming from another kindergarten program will be permitted to enroll in the School Corporation if the previous kindergarten program is accredited by the State Department of Education where the program is located. A child will not be permitted to enroll in the kindergarten program of the School Corporation if it can be determined that the previous kindergarten enrollment was intended to circumvent Indiana law or the early kindergarten appeal policy of Avon Community Schools.
