4419 - GROUP HEALTH PLANS

The School Board shall have discretion to establish and maintain group health plans for the benefit of eligible employees. These group health plans may provide health benefits through insurance or otherwise as permitted by law.

Medical and hospitalization insurance is available to all regular support staff employees. The School Corporation pays a portion of the premium of a group policy designated by the Board for regular staff employees who are on the payroll. The amount of the School Corporation’s portion is to be determined by the Board at the same time wages for the support staff are established.

Regular support staff employees who have been granted a Family Medical Leave (FML) by the Board are eligible for: (1) the School Corporation payment of a portion of the premium of the medical and hospitalization insurance for a period of up to twelve (12) weeks in one (1) year while on Family Medical Leave, and (2) continuation in the group plan after the twelve (12) weeks entirely at the individual’s expense.
