4431 - EMERGENCY ABSENCE
Members of the classified staff may request absence from school to be counted as emergency leave, to a maximum of three (3) days; if such absence is due to any of the following conditions:
| A. | impossible travel conditions due to weather | |
| B. | personal business of an emergency nature | |
| C. | accidents to the employee or to his/her immediate family or property thereof whenever this absence is not covered by regular sick leave | |
| D. | cases where the law requires the employee's presence (in this latter case, if there is remuneration paid, the Board of Education will pay the employee the difference between the amount of the remuneration and his/her regular salary) |
The employee should request the leave day as far in advance as possible so that a substitute can be obtained.
Emergency leave forms are obtainable from each supervisor. An explanation given in complete detail concerning the nature of the emergency and the employee's signature are required.
