4415 - SEVERANCE PAY

All school employees of the District who have served at least ten (10) years in any political subdivision shall at the time of their retirement receive pay for one-quarter of their unused sick leave to a maximum of 200 days or payment of fifty (50) days pay. Employees who have ten (10) years of service and have accumulated more than 200 days, shall receive pay for one-tenth of their unused sick leave to a maximum of eighty (80) days or payment of eight (8) days pay.

The Board authorizes the payment of a retiring classified staff member of his/her unused sick leave days under the conditions established in the Superintendent's administrative guidelines.

For purposes of this policy, "retirement" means retirement under the School Employees Retirement System (S.E.R.S.).
