1230 - SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

The Superintendent of Schools shall strive to achieve district goals for students by providing educational direction and supervision to the professional staff and supervision to the non-teaching staff and by acting as a proper model for staff and students both in the school and outside the District.

The Superintendent has final responsibility via his/her delegated authority for planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all phases of the District operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

In order to achieve the function of his/her position the Superintendent shall:

 A.act as the chief executive officer of the board of education. S/He shall prepare the agenda for each meeting, shall attend all meetings, and participate in the deliberations of the Board;

 B.advise the Board in all matters including: curriculum, personnel, facilities, equipment, finances, administrative procedures, evaluation, materials, and auxiliary services;

 C.administer the school in conformity with the adopted policies of the Board of Education, and state, and federal regulations;

 D.advise the Treasurer in all budgetary, financial, and purchasing matters;

 E.coordinate all school programs and activities via supervision and guidance of the total school curriculum and the school staff, both certified and classified;

 F.initiate and implement a viable public relations program aimed at informing the citizenry of the needs and accomplishments of the school;

 G.have other such duties and authority as may be assigned by the Board of Education and/or granted by law.

Work Relations

The Superintendent shall be directly responsible to the Board of Education for the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
