1420 - BENEFITS
The Board shall provide all administrative staff with the following benefits:
| A. | Life Insurance | ||
| All administrators will have life insurance, as set forth in Policy 1420.01, Health, Life and 125/Cafeteria Plans. Additional life insurance and limited dependent coverage are options provided to administrators at a group rate, in an amount specified by the Board. | |||
| B. | Hospitalization and Medical Insurance | ||
| Through a flexible benefits program, all administrators shall have the opportunity to enroll in hospitalization and medical care benefits, as set forth in Policy 1420.01, Health, Life and 125/Cafeteria Plans. | |||
| C. | Liability Coverage | ||
| All administrators will have insurance covering injury and property damage liability arising from the performance of assigned duties as provided by Florida statutes. This policy covers the administrator's liability for negligent acts arising out of administrative activities. | |||
| D. | Workers’ Compensation | ||
| The Board provides Workers’ Compensation to all employees and volunteers of the Board. This assures administrators who sustain a work-related illness or injury will receive benefits consistent with the law for that injury until they are able to return to work. | |||
| Administrators who are eligible for Workers’ Compensation may be paid earned sick leave benefits in addition to Workers’ Compensation benefits. The sick leave amount is reduced by the amount of the Workers’ Compensation benefit. In no case can total pay exceed the administrator’s regular at-work salary. | |||
| E. | Other Insured Employee Benefits | ||
| The options of dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment group insurance plans are available to administrators. | |||
| F. | Flexible Spending Accounts | ||
| Through a cafeteria style flexible benefits plan accounts are available as an option for paying some medical, dental, vision, and child care costs with pre-tax dollars, as set forth in Policy 1420.01, Health, Life and 125/Cafeteria Plans. | |||
| G. | Legal Services | ||
| The Board may provide legal services for an administrator who is sued for any action arising out of and in the course of the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, as set forth in Policy 1420.02, Legal Services. | |||
| H. | Holidays | ||
| Holidays will be designated by the Board at the time it adopts or amends the school calendar and employee salary schedules. | |||
| I. | Sick Leave Bank | ||
| Membership in the sick leave bank is available to administrators after completion of at least one (1) full year of employment with the Board, as set forth in Policy 1420.03, Sick Leave Bank. | |||
| J. | Tax-Sheltered Annuities | ||
| The Board may enter into a salary reduction agreement with an employee, to reduce the employee's salary in an amount specified in the agreement, as set forth in Policy 6520.01, Tax-Sheltered Annuities. | |||
| K. | Retirement | ||
| Retirement Options including, but not limited to regular, early, disability, In-Line-of-Duty Disability, and the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) are available to qualified employees, as set forth in Policy 1420.05, Retirement of Administrators. | |||
| Retirement Procedures and all Florida Retirement Service retirement guides published by the State of Florida, Department of Management Services, Division of Retirement are incorporated by reference and are part of this Board policy. | |||
| L. | Terminal Pay | ||
| Administrators shall be eligible for terminal pay at the time of normal retirement or payment to the beneficiary, if service is terminated by death, as set forth in Board-adopted salary schedules. Procedures may be updated by the Superintendent as necessary to ensure compliance with applicable law and/or rule. | |||
| M. | Social Security Alternative Plan | ||
| The Board will provide a retirement benefit plan for persons who are employed on a part-time, seasonal, or temporary basis, as an alternative to social security. |
