5421 - ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND PROGRESS
The academic achievement of students shall be measured in terms of progress marks as well as in the attainment of well-defined instructional goals and objectives.
Progress marks will be issued on a regular basis since this procedure provides for the continuous evaluation of student performance. Marks should be given on the basis of a student's success in achieving established objectives of the course. The instructional staff is responsible for providing and determining subject progress marks for students. Staff members must be prepared to provide necessary and appropriate records to justify progress marks issued to students. Staff must follow the District’s grading system.
The instructional staff shall develop means of:
| A. | aiding each student in appraising his/her own progress and utilizing such knowledge in making decisions concerning future educational programming; | ||
| B. | informing parents of the achievement progress of their children, and involving them as necessary in the design of learning programs. |
Student achievement shall be reviewed continuously to determine direction for future educational programming. The Superintendent shall develop guidelines that provide direction regarding the use of data for making decisions to improve student learning. All decisions regarding student achievement and the future of educational programming shall include the use of data.
