9140.01 - COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN DECISION MAKING
The Board of Education endorses the concept that community participation in the affairs of the school is essential if the School District and the community are to maintain mutual confidence and respect and work together to improve the quality of education in the District and the community.
The Board also recognizes that the public has vast resources of training and experience useful to the schools. Th strength of the local School District is in large measure determined by the degree to which those resources are tapped in an advisory way and to the degree that those resources are involved in supporting the improvement of the local educational program.
The advice of the public will be given careful consideration. In the evaluation of such contributions, the first concern will be for the educational program as it affects the students. The final decision may depart from this advice when, in the judgement of the staff and the Board, such advice is not consistent with the goals adopted by the Board, current educational practice, or within the reach of the financial resources available.
